Regardless of the time of year, creams and vegetable puree are a super healthy and tasty option for a balanced and healthy diet. Whether they are pumpkin , leeks , leeks with ham , zucchini , Galician-style , with turnip greens or the classic asparagus , creams are always one of my favorite options for a light and healthy meal.
Today I have prepared a classic within this type of preparation, a spinach cream accompanied by some strips of ham, which will add a salty touch to a smooth and tasty cream. Although it was the Arabs who introduced this vegetable in our country in the 11th century, its origin dates back much further back in time. It seems that they were a gift to the emperor of China, on the part of the Nepail, back in the 7th century.
Of course, spinach is always an unbeatable option to follow a healthy diet, it is a vegetable that provides us with a large amount of vitamins, fiber and minerals. If we add that it provides a minimum amount of calories, that it has no fat, and that we can find it in the markets throughout the year, we have a vegetable that we must take into account when making the shopping list and that we can include in a lot of preparations.
Recipes such as spinach cannelloni, with prawns and tomato sauce, with noodles, stewed with chickpeas or cream spinach, are some of the proposals that you can find on the blog so that you dare to prepare this vegetable. In any of its forms it is a light and very tasty soft snack.
Preparation of the spinach cream
- Cut the ham tip into small cubes and brown them in a saucepan with a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. When they begin to roast, remove them and reserve. It is advisable not to overcook the ham as it would become excessively hard.
- In the same pot, add 2 or 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and add the onion and garlic cloves cut into small cubes. Fry until the onion is soft.
- Add the frozen spinach or the fresh and washed spinach and cover with the water or the chicken stock. From the moment the water begins to boil, we cook for 6 or 7 minutes.
- We check the salt point adding if necessary and sprinkle the freshly ground black pepper. We crush cream, add the cream and mix well.
We serve in individual bowls or dishes with a handful of golden ham. In a simple and fast way we have a super healthy dish that will be a perfect first for any time of the year.
