How to make cannelloni stuffed with tuna.

The classic and homemade cannelloni are a delight that they usually like a lot and it is not for less, but it takes time and dedication to prepare them so that they come out like the yaya.

On the other hand, this very easy version of cannelloni stuffed with tuna is prepared in a moment and at home they have triumphed as much as the meat ones , not one has remained on the plate. 

Children are going to go crazy with these cannelloni and adults are not going to leave them indifferent either because for such a simple dish it is really good.

Also to save time, we have prepared a microwave bechamel , which is made in a pee pas and it looks very good. Not needing it to be too thick – like croquettes – in a couple of minutes we will have it ready.

And there is little more mystery to this recipe, which surely after trying it you will do more than once because it solves a meal quickly even if it is for many people.

The stuffed tuna, tomato sauce and cooked egg has always worked very well so if we have more or more, we can use it for some stuffed eggs or even sandwiches for mid-morning.

Preparation of cannelloni stuffed with tuna

  1. We boiled the cannelloni plates following the manufacturer’s instructions. We leave them on a clean cloth (which is not terrycloth). We reserve.
  2. We cook the eggs. There are two possibilities, either introduce the egg when the water is cold or do it when it is boiling. In the latter case it is convenient to leave it 2 minutes longer than when we introduce them with cold water.
  3. Once the water is boiling we must leave it between 11-12 minutes depending on the size of the egg or the number of those we are cooking. Once we have peeled them and they are cold, we grate the cooked eggs in a big bowl.
  4. Add the tuna, the fried tomato sauce and a splash of extra virgin olive oil. We stir well so that all the ingredients are well integrated.
  5. We put portions of the mixture on each cannelloni plate. A couple of tablespoons will suffice.
  6. We roll the plates giving the typical cannelloni shape and we leave them on a baking dish.

Preparation of the bechamel sauce in the microwave

  1. We go to prepare the bechamel in the microwave. In a container suitable for micro put the butter, flour, salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
  2. We heat 1 minute in the microwave and stir well. It will be easier if we use a manual rod.
  3. Add the milk, mix and heat again for another minute.
  4. Mix until you get a béchamel sauce that is not too thick. If it does not thicken, we heat it for another minute or let it rest.

Gratin and final presentation of the cannelloni

  1. We cover the cannelloni with our bechamel sauce and sprinkle the grated cheese
  2. Gratin in the oven until the cheese melts or is toasted. Putting the tray on top and with the grill function they will be ready in a few minutes.
  3. Take out and let cool for a few minutes, place 3 per person with generous béchamel sauce, more cheese for whoever you want and a pinch of freshly grated black pepper. Delicious!

Tips for perfect tuna stuffed cannelloni

  • If instead of bought fried tomato we prepare a homemade one they will be to lick your fingers.
  • We do not have to go over the amount of fillings, if we put too much it will overflow and the cannelloni will not be beautiful.  
  • And of course, these cannelloni can be frozen. They are perfect to prepare in quantity and put in a tupper. A great way to plan your weekly menu .
  • We can accompany these cannelloni stuffed with tuna with a tomato and onion salad or similar, seasoned simply with oil, vinegar and salt. You will have a complete and balanced meal.
