THE TRADITIONAL ORIGIN OF TOASTS
Its elaboration arises in pre-Hispanic times, where corn tortillas were placed on the embers of the stove to give it a crunchy texture.
Toasts were part of the diet of the lower middle class, and these were accompanied by BEANS and chili.
Upon the arrival of the Spanish, they were made with lard and other ingredients such as chicken, cheese and cream were added.
