Therefore, today we bring you another coffee recipe from the Basque Country, one of those that captivates: Bedoña coffee.

Yes, there is a world beyond the classic espresso coffee . Coffee is a drink that offers a lot of options to prepare in different ways. From some popular novelties such as the dalgona coffee or the Starbucks-style frappuccino to some versions of our favorite classics such as the espresso macchiato . But this delight does not stop at drinks, with coffee we can also cook some delicious desserts such as coffee flan , sponge cake , torrijas or the delicious tiramisu . The options for coffee growers are practically limitless.

In the case of Bedoña coffee, this drink belongs to a school that we all know, the school of carajillo , Irish and Scotch coffee , we could even say the coffee liquor . Bedoña coffee is one of those drinks that mix a touch of liquor with coffee, giving rise to a delicious and unmatched combination.

To prepare this drink we won’t need much: a little condensed milk , espresso coffee , white sugar and Grand Marnier -type orange liqueur . The preparation is really simple, but the result is quite a spectacle. Coffee growers, do you dare to try it?

To prepare Bedoña coffee we have two options: we can use ordinary espresso coffee and have a good result or spend a little more time making a perfect espresso and achieve a delicious Bedoña coffee. If you want to achieve the latter, below the preparation of Bedoña coffee we will leave you the steps to follow to do so.

  1. The first thing we will do is prepare a glass of Irish coffee and place a small base of condensed milk. Now we pour the Grand-Mariner into the glass.
  2. We prepare a double espresso in a jug. Once we have it ready, we will pour the coffee into the cup carefully, trying not to mix it with the condensed milk.

Preparing the perfect espresso for a delicious Bedoña coffee

  1. Making good espresso starts with quality ingredients, starting with water. Depending on the city or country you live in, tap water may not be the best water for making espresso. If the water is very calcified, it is best to use bottled water.
  2. As for the coffee beans, they have to be the best Arabica beans. A darker roast provides a fuller flavor profile, and if there’s one thing that defines espresso, it’s its intensity. 7 grams is normally enough (it is the perfect measurement according to experts), but since we want to prepare a double we will use 12 grams.
  3. It is best to grind the beans just when we are going to prepare the coffee and the finer the better. In addition, we must ensure that the filter is properly cleaned, since otherwise the flavor of our drink will change.
  4. When preparing it, the water must be kept at 90º C and 9 bars for 25 seconds. In this way, the espresso is completed with the delicious crema that is one of its characteristics and, frankly, one of the best things about it.
  5. Then you can choose between sweetened or unsweetened. Most espresso drinkers say to drink it neat, but espresso with a little sugar is not bad. Since the Bedoña coffee recipe already contains some sugar, we will skip this step.
